My Knowledge For Dogs

Volunteering

  • Volunteered in a group class setting for basic obedience with pet dogs for multiple dog training companies over the years before becoming a dog trainer my self

  • Volunteered with puppy socialization and group walks where I learned a lot about dog body language and built my skills to quickly pick up on subtle signs

  • Worked with foster dogs and my own dog with a dog trainer through private training sessions to better the dogs and my skills for reactivity.

  • Apprenticeship through SmartDog Training under the owner Sherry Antonishen

Books, Courses, Webinars

Once I discovered the direction I want to take in dog training, I began my library of dog training books. I still continue to grow my list of books I must read on dog training.

Courses through Fenzi Dog Sports Academy, Dunbar Academy, Pet Summits and Puppyworks.

Animal Behaviour College

This program was done online through 8 months of studying and testing my knowledge. The final exam was completed after an externship was completed with Sherry Antonishen - Owner of SmartDog Training

Pet Professional Guild

PPG is an accreditation board that follows the fear free beliefs of training without the use of intimidation or pain when training a dog. With this accreditation board I had to apply to be accepted with a number of hours completed in training privately and in classes. Once I was accepted into the program, I did a knowledge based test, followed by many submitted videos following their criteria in teaching different behaviours to dogs along with a video of coaching someone to teach their own dog. This was an extensive and detailed program which makes me feel that much more confident in my skills as a dog trainer.
